There aren’t any DJs or producers out there who do it quite like Thomas Pentz, better known as Diplo. From the well-crafted instrumentals to the epic remixes to his DJ sets, he has gained the ultimate reputation of being a trend-setter. Diplo has been a major influence in the skyrocketing popularity of moombahton and more recently trap this year, but he doesn’t completely fall back on any specific genres live.
A Diplo DJ set is fun because you literally have no idea what is coming next. I’ve heard him play everything from Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People” to Avicii’s “Levels”. It is not unlikely that he will play tunes you have never heard before or even tunes that are in languages you have never heard before. Pentz is known to travel the world and pick up bits and pieces of exotic tunes to bring to America. It makes to one of the most fun, energetic and above all interesting sets you will ever see.
You can see Diplo perform the late night set after Foo Fighters, Paper Diamond and more bless the sands of Pensacola at this year’s DeLuna Festival. There is no doubt that it will be an EPIC performance. Here are a few mixes from the crazy man himself. Enjoy!
