EXO-TECH Brings All-Star NYC Musicians Together for Weekly Improv Jams in March

This month, (Le) Poisson Rouge teams up with the large ensemble EXO-TECH to present the EXO- SESSIONS, a four week series of collaborative improvisations with some of New York City’s most celebrated musical talents. With surprise guests performing each week, you won’t want to miss any of the action on Wednesday nights at Nublu. Already announced are members of Arcade Fire, Antibalas, DARKSIDE, Ex-Eye, Liturgy, Twin Shadow, and so many big name artists like Marc Ribot, Kimbra, etc.

The first of the EXO-SESSIONS takes place at Manhattan’s Nublu on March 8th. The lineup is enticing to say the least…

Kimbra Sophia Brous Dave Harrington (Darkside) Spencer Zahn Jeremy Gustin (Sam Amidon, Star Rover) Danny Meyer (Julia Holter band, Chairlift) Benjamin Lazar Davis (Cuddle Magic, Joan as Policewoman) Cleek Schrey + SPECIAL MYSTERY GUESTS

One of the guests that I’m hearing is a member of one of the most influential hip hop groups of all time. If that comes true, it would really make it impossible to miss. Hopefully that comes together.

Some background information on EXO-TECH:

Originally formed in February 2016 by Australian musician/musical director Sophia Brous and New Zealand singer/producer Kimbra, EXO-TECH is a collaborate force of creative minds whose styles encapsulate every genre from rock to experimental pop–and everything in between. A fusion of sounds that rests somewhere between Talking Heads, Can, The Knife, and the Art Ensemble of Chicago, EXO-TECH’s collaborators will further explore the intersections between collective improvisation and pop song composition, as they did across several sold out shows in 2016.
