Lael Summer’s debut album is pop music with a strong nod soul, funk, r&b and even vocal jazz. If this is where popular music is headed, I can dig it. While songs like “Make You Whole” can bring down the uptempo pace of the album, the funky guitar lines paired with organ blasts on “It’s About Soul” make up for that. Stream the album below.
