Colin Stetson Forms EX EYE, Playing First Show at LPR This Friday
Earlier this year Colin Stetson reimagined Henryk Górecki’s popular Symphony No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs), resulting in an absolutely incredible blend of neo-classic, post-rock, and even some black metal blast beats and intensity. It seems as if Stetson is diving further down that rabbit hole with this new project, EX EYE, a quartet that also features Shahzad Ismaily on bass/synth, Greg Fox on drums/electronics and Toby Summerfield on guitar.
The band has no music out, but have posted some excerpts from their rehearsals. This Friday, they’ll debut the project at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village, an event that is surely not to be missed for fans of aggressive music, classical, ambient, post-anything, or jazz.
