WMC 2013: The Artists You Need To Discover

So Monday morning we woke up in Miami with a 5-day, built-up hangover and trucked our happy asses back to Orlando. WMC is over and days that consist of beach, pool parties and late-night club events are over… for now.

We went down there with big plans and little money, which usually don’t equate to a good time in Miami. Luckily, our street savvy (and unbelievably good looks) gave us the time of our lives.

Here are the artists we think you need to check out after attending WMC. These are the ones who really blew us that you may not already have in your record rotation. (who am I kidding… no one listens to records anymore…)

Dusky

Dusky is a DJ duo that spin funky smooth house music. While their peers don’t get a ton of love on this blog, we’ve been infected with the deep, groovy, disco-feelin’ house tunes for a while now and you will likely be getting a strong dose of that in the future. Check out a couple tunes below, especially if you’re trying to get sexy or looking for some 4am post-party music. Flume

Flume made our list of 13 artists to look for in 2013 and his live performance would make him one of the artists I suggest you go and see in 2013 as well. These lush beats only sound better on a big sound system and they are only more danceable in a club environment. Add hip-hop mash-ups (what up Biggie + Kendrick) and you got yourself a show! Blood Diamonds

This dude looks like a total creep. We saw this tall, awkward, Flux-looking DJ at the private OWSLA party without really knowing his name. While his cloak / basketball sneakers combo wouldn’t make him a WMC stylist, his set was pretty damn cool. From future garage to disco, he held it down before Alex Metric, Alvin Risk and Skrillex tore up the decks. Keys N Krates

It’s going to take a special act to follow up Michal Menert and Break Science at 4am in Miami. Keys N Krates are a special act… With live remix / performances of TNGHT and Diplo, they sure kept it entertaining. The band consists of a drummer, turntablist and keyboardist to give you that live music experience WMC sometimes lacks.
