Bob Weir has a new album coming out next friday, September 30th. It’s called Blue Mountain, and was recorded with The National’s Bryce and Aaron Dessner, along with Josh Ritter. This is Bob Weir’s first new studio material since the 2000 Ratdog release Evening Moods.
Blue Mountain is now streaming in full on NPR’s First Listen. Upon first listen, it’s clear that Weir’s ability as a songwriter hasn’t escaped him in his absence from recording. The tracks are captivating, emotional, and mature. There is certainly a healthy hint of indie-Americana vibes in there, courtesy of his new friends from The National.
Weir will take these new songs on the road in October, with dates in Oakland, Los Angeles, Nashville, Chicago, and a few in the New York City area. You can still scoop tickets for some of those shows here.
