EVENT REVIEW: Felix Da Housecat & Safer At Night Crew @ Verbote

Curses, founder of Safer at Night, and Felix Da Housecat having some fun

This past Saturday, Verboten played host to Felix Da Housecat and Brooklyn-based Safer at Nightdkd crew. The Chicago legend clearly meshed well with the BK cats (picture above) and the product was everything that’s dope about club culture and electronic music in 2014.

The night got warmed up by DKDS and Crank, who are signed to the Safer at Night imprint. The DJs and imprint alike bring a 4am Brooklyn aesthetic to dance music. It’s dark and dancey, but clearly not afraid to have some fun either (again, picture above).

Curses, the founder of Safer at Night, is defined by many things, but the only thing that mattered this night were the techy, house beats he blasted just before the main act. And, of course, the hat.

When Felix Da Housecat took stage, the vibe changed just a little. The Chicago OG, who enjoyed his 43rd birthday this past Thursday, was given some cake in celebration. The gesture fit right in with the night of funky OG house music and disco, and his facial expression matched mine and my cohorts as he dropped gem after gem into the morning.

Verboten, you’ve done it again dammit.
