Greensky Bluegrass is wasting no time, and it appears that early 2019 will be huge for the string quintet. On January 18 they will release a brand new album entitled All For Money, following up 2016’s spectacular Shouted, Written Down & Quoted and 2014’s breaking If Sorrows Swim. On their journey to stretch the boundaries of progressive bluegrass (or string music, or whatever have you), Greensky Bluegrass will also tour extensively as they’ve done in years past.
That newly announced tour – the All For Money Winter Tour 2019 – sees the band hitting some of the biggest venues they’ve played yet. The New York City date lands at the spectacular Beacon Theatre, a place that has famously held residencies by some of the most popular performers in history like Allman Brothers Band, Steely Dan, Jerry Seinfeld, and many more. There they’ll be joined by the wonderful Circles Around the Sun, who are hot on the heels of their recent release Let It Wander.
That’ll be a special night in New York City, but the tour also hits the similarly ornate Palace Theatre in Albany, the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, outdoors-in-January Florida venue Jannus Landing, along with a pair of two-night stints in Washington DC and Detroit. It’s undoubtably one of the most ambitious tours that Greensky Bluegrass have plotted, and we wish them the best in their triumphant climb into the title of America’s most epic, jam-filled string music band.
