Jazz fusion trio Medeski Martin & Wood will mark their 25th anniversary with two very special shows at Greenwich Village’s Le Poisson Rouge. As of late, the trio have been busy with a variety of other projects: Chris Wood plays with his brother in the blossoming Americana group The Wood Brothers, John Medeski has been staying busy with everyone from Phil & Friends to Antibalas, and Billy Martin recently debuted a new band called Bee Line.
But on October 19th and 20th, the trio will come together for the project that they cut their teeth on, and Le Poisson Rouge is the perfect venue for such an occasion. The underground, boundary-pushing venue has a lot in common with MMW’s music: neither party feels much loyalty to the limitations of genres or expectations. Both MMW and LPR are purveyors of great music, and these special shows will showcase the best of their respective worlds. Medeski Martin & Wood will bring their funky, space-jazz to a stage with incredible sound, intimacy, and vibes.
