Miami is always a fun time, but with Phish in town for four big nights at the American Airlines Arena, the after parties are plentiful for a jam fan this year.
Our pals from AURA Music & Arts Festival have a huge lineup planned for the weekend. On the 31st you have your choice of The Main Squeeze or The Heavy Pets, who are playing til Sunrise at a bar located right by AAA! You can’t go wrong either way, but a sunrise Pet’s set sounds like the winner to us here.
Then on January 2nd and 3rd, get down with Dopapod and The New Mastersounds, a great double-bill of an after party. I saw it announced that they will be doing interlocking sets, so it might be fun to watch that occur!
If that doesn’t blow enough air up your skirt, don’t go talking shit on Phantasy Tour just yet. Particle is doing two nights at Grand Central, a short walk from AAA. These guys crushed it at Hulaween, making this a great choice and our pick for New Year’s Day.
Electron will bring their super-group sound to Miami as well! Brownie and co. are doing two nights at the Stage in Miami, a venue located 15-or-so blocks from the Phish shows. Walking in Miami is always fun, and the weather won’t be too bad, so a cab or a nice walk are both viable options.
To end it all, Live for Live Music is throwing a tribute party with none other than the Doctor, Mr. Roosevelt Collier. ‘Jimi Meets Funk,’ as it’s been dubbed, will be a tribute to Jimi Hendrix and other music legends performed by Nigel Hall, Nikki Glaspie, Luther Dickinson and more. This is going to be a great one for certain!
