The Newport Jazz Festival have announced their first wave of artists for their yearly event. Topping the bill is the Original Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, along with Snarky Puppy and a couple of groups featuring Vijay Iyer: a Sextet and his duo with Wadada Leo Smith. Hudson, which features a quartet of heavy-hitters by the names of Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield, John Medeski & Larry Grenadier, is equally exciting to see.
