REVIEW: My Morning Jacket’s Second Night at the Beacon [Photos, Setlist]

MMJ-1-WM

Once again, the My Morning Jacket guys displayed why they’re one of the best rock bands going. As they continued their Beacon Theatre residency on Wednesday night, the five-piece band jumped all over their discography, playing classic material like “I Will Sing You Songs,” “Wonderful” (with Timothy Showalter aka Strands of Oak), “Off the Record,” “Phone Went West,” “Mahgeetah” and more. Lesser-played songs such as “You Wanna Freak Out” and “Movin Away” haven’t been played on the Jacket stage in years, so those were a real treat for the fans.

The band continues their run with a show tonight, November 27th, and tomorrow on the 28th. Tickets for those shows are still available in low quantities, I believe, so pick them up if you haven’t already. With a ton of material still on the board for the next two shows, we have no doubt that Jim James and co. will impress with another couple spectacular rock shows.
