SHOW PREVIEW: KING Album Release Party at Le Poisson Rouge

KING-LPR

Rising LA trio KING are playing a record-release show at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village on February 5th. We Are King, the groups debut LP, comes out on that same day.

KING just played New York City, actually, as a part of the Revive Music stage at New York City Winter Jazzfest. We missed the set, but according to hearsay at the festival and on social media, it was quite the site. We won’t be making the same mistake twice, and have already ensured our spot at February 5th’s show by getting our tickets.

If you’re unfamiliar with KING, their music falls in line with fellow soul revivalists like The Internet and Hiatus Kaiyote, although the vibe is definitely less proggy and more stripped down than the latter of those two comparisons. Not unlike Erykah Badu’s music, the feels run deep, evoking a sort of meditation when you press play. For your listening pleasure, you can stream a few of their tracks below.

Tickets for the show are available for only $12, an absolute steal to see one of the R&B world’s most promising acts. In the coming years, you’ll likely have to pay more to see them at bigger venues, so hop on this opportunity while you still have the chance!
