When jazz-rock quintet Kneebody and producer Daedelus linked up for last year’s Kneedelus, it ended up becoming one of our favorite records of the year. The Brainfeeder-released LP bridged Kneebody’s instrumentation and musicianship with Daedelus’ out-there electronica style. It’s a roller coaster ride chalk-full of excitement, dissonance, darkness, and free jazz bliss. Like Flying Lotus’ You’re Dead, Floating Points Elaenia, and Nonkeen’s recent release, the record spices jazz up with a healthy dose of electronics, creating this fresh style that seems to be flourishing as of late.
On Sunday, March 13th, Kneedelus will make their New York City debut at Le Poisson Rouge. Always pushing the envelope with their bookings, LPR is the perfect venue to host such an exciting event. We’re thoroughly excited to see how Kneebody, a seasoned live act in the jazz realm, blend with Daedelus in the live setting. They’ve already proven themselves in the studio, and just recently published a fantastic live video to Youtube, so I have no doubts that they’ll flourish at LPR next weekend.
Tickets for the show are available over at Le Poisson Rouge’s website. Check out a live video for “Drum Battle” featuring the special collaborative group, and don’t miss them when they come through the Big Apple on Sunday.
