The Roots Picnic has grown in Philadelphia, the birthplace of the band, over the years, but this fall it will take a trip north to the current hometown of The Roots: New York City. Fortunately for us, The Roots Picnic has orchestrated an absolutely stacked lineup for the inaugural stay in the Big Apple.
On October 1st, The Roots, D’Angelo, and John Mayer will headline, which has been rumored on certain blogs as one big jam of sorts, with support from X Ambassadors, Kevin Gates, Jeremih, and a DJ set from Questlove. October 2nd, which is billed as a love letter to New York, Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne, and Nile Rodgers will all be backed by The Roots (seperately, we presume) with support from Trombone Shorty, EPMD, Swizz Beatz, Deerhoof, Black Thought’s Live Mixtape, and more. It’s a huge win for the city, and potentially the biggest festival to take place in Manhattan all year long?
Tickets go on sale this Friday. We’ll see you there!
