NYC gets a lot of talented people doing a lot of things, always. Every interpretation of the term “EDM” is no exception.
Lately we’ve seen a few pieces of the European music industry make their way stateside via NYC (London’s Rough Trade Records, Manchester’s Sankeys Nightclub, Ibiza’s Space).
Next up is the famed “Time Warp” party at the end of the month. With a lineup boasting the likes of Dubfire, Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath, I shouldn’t have to do much convincing.
Time Warp, is annual German Festival that recently celebrated it’s 20th anniversary. While I’ve never been, a healthy bit of time stumbling YouTube has painted a decent picture. The lights, the crowd, the DJs- It all seems authentic, focused, and in some capacities, understated; Something I feel this side of music desperately needs.
Sets I’m obviously looking forward to:
Dubfire, AKA Ali Shirazinia, will be debuting his “Hybrid” set to the US.
“HYBRID reinvents the concert experience by seamlessly weaving together elements of 2D and 3D animation with live audio to explore the intersection of science and technology – of man and machine – and their resulting evolution and fusion.”
Sven Vath: Few people have been doing their thing as long as this guy…
He’s very loyal to his vinyl, is a required taste and does require patience, but damn he’ll guide you all over the place.
Set I’m less obviously looking forward to:
Dixon: This guy makes me feel like a space cadet in the best way possible.
Anyway … I’m sure tickets will be gone sooner than later.
Do yourself a favor after you buy a bunch of shit you don’t really need on Black Friday.
SEE YOU AT TIME WARP>>>>>>
