Shambhala, Lightening in a Bottle, and Bass Coast. Do those festivals ring a bell to you? They are all Transformational Festivals on the West Coast of the United States. We at haven’t yet had the pleasure to make it out to one of these West Coast festivals yet, but by the looks, sounds, and reviews, we can’t wait to see what all the hype is about.

Below is a 10 minute video that really captures the essence of the festival culture on the West Coast. It’s titled “Revelation on the Dance Floor: A Film Dedicated to West Coast Festival Culture” with narration by Jeet-Kei Leung, so have a watch and then head below to read more.

“Dancing into trance, an ancient spiritual passage – this is your birthright being returned. In these oceans of sound we swim, like schools of fish, remembering our deepest shared telepathic primordial past. The energy contained and generated on that dance floor fuels this light ship. The DJ is at the helm choosing frequencies. The music amplified becomes the air itself.” – Jeet-Kei Leung

Jeet-Kei Leung has one of the most incredible ways with words I’ve ever stumbled upon, I get goosebumps every time. 15 years of immersion in the culture as a musical artist, event organizer, presenter and community builder have put him in the spotlight as an emerging spokesperson for Transformational Festivals. After watching him speak multiple times via YouTube and Ted Talks, I can’t wait to one day be at a workshop of his at one of the many Festivals that he participates in. Don’t you agree?

He and other fellow “Bloom Squad” members have created “The Bloom” a 4 part series about 23 different Transformational Festivals across the globe. “The Bloom tells the vibrant, compelling and colorful story of a cultural renaissance in progress with the artistic sensibility and inspired creativity from which the culture has been birthed.” The 4-part series is being released in increments, starting March 21st, 2013, so stay tuned for that. Until then, you can check out The Bloom trailer below!
