This weekend, NOLA’s Galactic will bring two nights of their eclectic sound to New York City. With The Revivalists on Friday and Boombox on Saturday, each evening will boast a double-header of jammin’, good music.
Galactic are always injecting jazz, rock, rap, R&B, and jam tendencies into funk music. Truly champions of the sound, we can’t wait to see what they do in the Big Apple. The band is known to bring special guests aplenty along with them, so who knows who’s going to show up in the city that never sleeps?
We do know that The Revivalists will open the show on Friday night. Singer David Shaw has performed with Galactic on a number of occasions, including Wanee Festival, Gathering of the Vibes, and many more. Check out this hair-raising rendition of “Ain’t No Love in the Heart of the City” from the House of Blues in Boston.
On Saturday, Boombox will open up the show. Bringing a unique fusion of deep house, jam rock, and funk, Boombox is one of the funnest dance parties around. We’ve had the pleasure of catching these guys on a number of occasions and it’s always a treat. They’ve been known to cover the Grateful Dead’s “Shakedown Street,” and get groovy on their originals as well.
There’s no telling what kind of collaborations and bust-outs we’ll see this weekend, but they’re sure to be plentiful. Tickets for the show are available on Best Buy Theater’s website.
