TAUK has had one hell of a year. They played tons of festivals, released a killer live album in Headroom, and set themselves up to have an even better 2016. While the band gears up for their set at Suwannee Hulaween, bassist Charlie Dolan found a little time to answer some questions. TAUK plays the Spirit Lake Stage at 8pm on Sunday.

So TAUK has probably exploded more in the past year than any other band in this scene. How does it feel? What would you attribute the success to?

Charlie: It’s an incredible feeling to travel around the country playing a different place every night and having people come out to enjoy our music. We feel the anticipation and energy before our shows and it brings the best out of us. Getting that kind of response is humbling, exciting, and very motivating for us to keep pushing forward.

I would attribute the success we have had so far to a variety of things. We work as hard as we can to tour, practice and write new music all year long. We try to stay humble and positive no matter what, even if there is a ton of negative situations coming our way.

We have some amazing fans that push our band every chance they get.

The band has played tons of festivals this year. I’m sure it’s hard to pick, but what was the best one you played?

I would say our most memorable festival this year was Electric Forest. We had two great sets with great crowds and played on the coolest stage of the festival. We couldn’t help but bring it.

We can’t wait to see you guys at Hula, but who are YOU most looking forward to see at Hulaween?

Always great to see the homie bands like Lettuce, Papdosio, The Nth Power and Dopapod. I’m sure there a few more I can’t think of. The lineup is stacked!

What is it about the Suwannee that makes performing special?

It’s one our favorite places to play without a doubt. The grounds are magical. The crowds are full of avid music lovers that are always ready to soak in as much music as they can and the people who run the park and festivals are some of the best to work with. Just a place you never really want to leave.

What are the best concerts you’ve ever attended?

Radiohead – Bonnarroo 2012

Stevie Wonder – Apollo theater

Phish NYE 2002 at MSG

What are three albums would you want if you were deserted on an island?

Kneebody Break Me

Jaco Pastorius Self titled

Any Bob Marley album to keep me positive

If there was a food dish to describe TAUK, which one would it be?

An assortment of cheeses and cured meats.
