Papadosio takes over Tampa’s Crowbar for eclectic, jammed-out set

Papadosio is currently taking their eclectic jamtronica around Florida, on the Aura Concert Series. We were fortunate enough to catch the sold out show last night in Tampa. The intimate Crowbar took on a festival environment for an evening with one of today’s most promising bands.

They started off with “Method of Control” from their new album T.E.T.I.O.S. The infectious groove was immediately picked up by attendees, and it set the tone for the two+ hour set to come. Whereas the previous night in Gainseville saw the Papadosio playing a more album-oriented set, Tampa’s show was definitely more of a jam fest.

The 5-piece band, led by Anthony Thogmartin, played a variety of genres. From ambient house to rock ‘n’ roll, nearly every genre you could hear at a modern day music festival was covered by the talented act.

Apart from the tunes, Papadosio brought their own visual artists for a full sensory overload. Daniel Hiudt and Jason Takahashi brought the best out of Papa D. We can let the pictures speak for themselves, but the only way to truly experience these crucial additions to the team. Takahashi’ soothing, thought-provoking images and videos were displayed on two dual projection screens, while Hiudt had the place looking like a secret Phish show.

With bands becoming increasingly rare in exchange for DJs, it was refreshing to see such a young crowd having such an amazing time during a band’s performance. Each concertgoer was a participant in an exhilarating display of love, energy and music.
