Porter Robinson’s name has become synonymous with the EDM culture. The “electro prodigy” is best known for his trance-electro hybrids along with relationships with characters like Tiesto and Deadmau5. His previously released songs are nothing to write home about in 2014, in my opinion at least.
So when Porter releases a new essential mix, I’m expecting it to sound like a peak-hour EDC main stage set…but boy was I wrong.

There’s a ton of great music today that just needs to be discovered. Here’s the thing: If Porter Robinson is in to this stuff, you know the kids are soon to follow. You can see the mainstream slowly gravitating towards a melodic, less chaotic sounding electronic music, but this is a monumental step in my mind.
With a brand new album coming out, Porter took the time to shine the light on up-and-comers like Chrome Sparks, Lindsay Lowend and Wave Racer, along with loads of artists I’ve never heard, while still throwing in some Flume and Daft Punk for good measure.
