10 Songs We Want to Hear at Electric Forest

Electric Forest has dozens of artists that made hundreds of songs I would like to hear at the festival. I won’t hear most of them, but with four days of music, here are my top picks.

Lauryn Hill – I Used To Love Him

Classic Lauryn Hill will be on display this weekend. With a traditional set on Friday and then the highly anticipated Ms. Lauryn Hill Incident on Saturday. This old school cut featuring Mary J. Blige has got to go down.

Umphrey’s McGee – Bridgeless

Umphrey’s at their finest with an epic prog jam. This one brings the headbangin’ funk.

Art Department – Tell Me Why (Pt. I)

Soulful, minimalistic, deep…this is Art Department.

Flying Lotus – Between Friends (featuring Earl Sweatshirt & Captain Murphy)

Some rappers go hard and some go artisan…FlyLo shows how he is a double-threat on the mic as Captain Murphy, along with Odd Future young’n Early Sweatshirt and a super-fresh hip-hop beat.

Anders Osborne – Mind of a Junkie

This isn’t a dance track or anything to really party to, but it is a deep look in to Anders’ past with a kick-ass solo at the end.

Chrome Sparks – Marijuana

This one has been getting steady play since I heard it on WPRK in Orlando. This one is silky smooth, like an ice cold bong hit.

STS9 – Breathe In

This is the only Tribe track I’m seriously chasing. It’s absolutely beautiful, and while I don’t even know if they’ve played it since Murph’s departure, I sincerely want them to bust it out this weekend.

Zeds Dead – Lost You

Aside from this being the coolest, trippiest video I’ve seen all year, it’s also a phenomenal track. Zeds Dead have proven again and again that they can conquer any type of electronic music, this time with the deep-house / garage style most recently popularized by Disclosure.

Papadosio – Night Colors

I’m still not completely unsure that a dozen friends and I made contact with aliens during this exact performance…

String Cheese Incident – Little Hands

Saving the best for last, I could write String Cheese Incident’s setlists for the 3 nights. If I had to pick just one track, as of now, it’s “Little Hands.” The group didn’t play this at Forest last year, but did the year before. More recently, they did an incredible, acoustic version recently at the Huck Finn Festival in California just last week.
