Countdown to Counterpoint.. with only 5 days to go till the extravaganza, DubEra breaks down 10 Tubular Acts at Counterpoint Music & Arts Festival. Since today is 420, we hope to fire up your Easter holiday morning.. with some new tunes and artists we plan to attend at this years fine fiesta.
1. ) RUN THE JEWELS (EL-P & KILLER MIKE)
Time Slot – Sunday 3:45 – 4:45 pm
Run the Jewels the American hip hop rapper duo, El-P and Killer Mike. Recently releasing their self-titled first album “Run the Jewels” which is probably one of the most refreshing rap albums I’ve heard in along time… AND it’s a free download. Seeing Killer Mike hit the stage at the very end of OutKast’s Coachella performance, but not performing… gets me pretty excited to see Big Boi hit the stage with Run The Jewels or vice versa.

I hadn’t honestly heard the sexy sounds of Phantogram… until I saw this very magical “Lightning In A Bottle” teaser video.. LINK HERE ( click it! ) Anyways the duo Sarah Barthel & Josh Carter are geared up for CP next weekend. They have our attention with this festival anthem “Black Out Days”

Time Slot – Friday 6:45 – 7:45 pm
Quincey Hanley, better known by his stage name Schoolboy Q, jumps quickly up my list with this banger “Hell of a Night”. Off his massive album release “Oxymoron”. Clearly Kendrick and the boys at TDE are roaring to the stars and beyond… and we are excited for them, and to catch Schoolboy Q next Friday.
4. ) TYCHO
Time Slot – Sunday 11:45 – 1:00 am Closing Out CP
Closing out Counterpoint this year is Flux Pavilion and Scott Hansen, aka Tycho. He is blissful, ambient, and sounds like my kind of atmosphere I would like to close out Counterpoint with. Thievery Corporation is back! with a brand new album “Saudade”. If Thievery brings the entire band like they did for Electric Forest 2012, then CP is in for a treat. Flash back in time with a Thievery staple “Until the morning”

Chance, another act set to play the overwhelming Sunday bill at Counterpoint. Chancelor Bennett, aka Chance The Rapper, high off the fumes of success with the extremely well taken “acid rap” mixtape, that released this time last year. Peep my personal favorite “cocoa butter kisses”

Orlando Florida’s own XXYYXX! A 4/20 must, with the famous 15,000,000 hit viral slow-mo weed smoking video LINK HERE. Marcel Everett, aka XXYYXX is my go to artist for showing off my subs-woofers. I can’t wait to see what goes down with him next weekend.

J. Cole is staying strong with his last release Born Sinner. After seeing the sensation about the album, it’s clear J. Cole’s album is going to be one for the books. Check out the tune “Power Trip” the first single off his recent album. Featuring the likes of Miguel Pimentel on the hook.
