Kendrick Lamar put out one of the best hip hop records of all time last year.
Yes – I said it.
The album, through and through is flawless. The concept, the different styles, the varied flows, the hits, the deep cuts, the skits, etc. The entire album oozes everything that comprises quality rap music.
His mixtapes garnered attention from everyone in hip hop and now, Kendrick is on top. He’s playing Snowball, Bonnaroo, Hangout, Governors Ball and more, and for good reason!
We don’t cover a whole bunch of hip hop here at DubEra.com. It isn’t because we don’t love hip hop, but it doesn’t always go with what we do here and let’s be honest… most rap music sucks in 2013. We saw 2 Chainz and as funny as that guy is, “two chains, fo’ bracelets”, “she got a big booty so I call her big booty”, blah blah isn’t really doing much to provoke the mind. It might be fun when you’re wasted, but it isn’t doing much…
While we’ve never seen Kendrick in the live setting, I’ve heard very positive reviews and look forward to bumping in to him a few times over the next few months!
