Dumpstaphunk is currently touring the US on their new LP Dirty Word. The five-piece group began their Florida run last night, prepping the Sunshine State for their two sets coming at Bear Creek Music & Arts Festival.
The band’s two hour set was jam-packed with funky fun for the packed house. The early part of the set saw Dumpstaphunk favorites such as “Put it in the Dumpster” and “Dancin’ to the Truth.” The band flawlessly blends New Orleans soul with the funkiest tunes that would make James Brown, Sly (and the Family Stone) and George Clinton himself all super stoked. The band even has two bassist playing on most tunes…THAT’S FUNKY!
The second half saw the band embellish on solos, including an awesome solo from drummer Nikki Glaspie into a hip-hop medley that included “Shake Your Money Maker” by Ludacris and Pharrell and “Public Service Announcement” by Jay-Z. Yes, Nikki was rapping while drumming…can’t imagine that’s an easy task.
