The 10 Best Upcoming Concerts in South Florida

Many people only think of DJ culture or hip hop when they think of South Florida, but we get a good variety of music from jam to indie and more. Live music takes place nightly at so many venues around the greater Miami area, and it can sometimes be hard to filter through and find the best ones. So we’ve decided to do the work for you.

Here are the 10 best shows coming to South Florida in the next couple months.

Warren Haynes Fillmore –  Miami Beach – October 22nd The former Allman Brother and the current front man for Govt Mule, Warren Haynes, will be in Miami Beach for a solo show. He just released a new solo project featuring Railroad Earth so expect to hear some of that and who knows what else! TIX HERE

[Warren with Gov’t Mule at Wanee 2013]

KORN & Suicide Silence Fillmore – Miami Beach – October 16th Our inner-90s rocker is screaming with excitement for this. Korn will be playing their self-titled debut album in it’s entirety on this tour. Watching bands perform whole albums is a special opportunity for all the old school fans to get their fix. Suicide Silence is not to be taken lightly either; those guys play some seriously heavy metal. TIX HERE

Purity Ring Venue: Fillmore – Miami Beach – September 11th This show will showcase some softer music, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be energetic. Purity Ring has had really unique lighting in the past and we are curious to see what the new tour holds. A very enjoyable live performance with music you can take any of your friends to enjoy. [Purity Ring at Bonnaroo 2013]

Stratosphere All Stars The Funky Biscuit – Boca Rotan – August 20th You may not have heard of Stratosphere All Stars, but if you are into the jam scene you will recognize it’s members. The group is comprised of musicians from Particle, Lotus, Digital Tape Machine, and former STS9 member, David Murphy. They have been covering songs from the Grateful Dead, Disclosure, Talking Heads, and more. Don’t sleep on this one! TIX HERE

Chance The Rapper Fillmore – Miami Beach – November 7th Chance has been holding his relevance in the music industry for a good amount of time now. He has a powerful stage presence and is always doing unique things. He walked around Bonnaroo amongst the fans with a water gun all day just for fun and wore a mask the whole time to hide his identity. His last album with the Social Experiment “Surf” was released for free and not even under his name. It was a very ego-less move and something that earned him respect from the more critical music listeners. His live band is great and worth every penny. TIX HERE

[Chance the Rapper at Art Basel in Downtown Miami]

Joey Bada$$ Revolution Live – Ft. Lauderdale – October 23rd Joey Badass is just that, a badass. He is full of energy every time he hits the stage. Recently Joey has been performing at major festivals so you know his live act is something worth checking out. He keeps it real and has an overall great message. Joey Bada$$ is keeping real hip hop alive for New York. Check him out while he’s in South Florida. TIX HERE

[Joey Badass at Hangout 2015]

J. Cole Perfect Vodka Amphitheater – West Palm Beach – August 18th If you enjoy real hip hop and you haven’t heard J. Cole’s newest album, “Forest Hills Live Drive”, then you should go listen to it right now. J. Cole has been putting out high quality content for years now. From mixtapes to albums, he has come a long way. He signed to Jay Z after college and took off from there. His first album was kind of a flop but he rebounded very strong with the new album. It’s one of our favorite hip hop albums in the past few years. His live show just as good if not better than his recordings. That’s very rare for a hip hop artist. Go check out J. Cole in a filled out amphitheater. It will be worth it. TIX HERE

[J. Cole at Counterpoint 2014]

iii Points Festival Mana Wynwood – October 9th-11th The second year for this underground style festival is looking good! A successful first year with Flying Lotus, Hot Natured, and more has set them up for a triumphant return with artists like MF DOOM, Bonobo, Toro y Moi, Nicolas Jaar and more. iii Points isn’t one of those over flashy festivals. This fest is about the music and held right in the cutting edge art district of Miami inside a giant warehouse. TIX HERE

Umphrey’s McGee + Afterparty w/ Roosevelt Collier Fillmore – Miami Beach – August 22nd One of the most technical bands to ever take the stage, Umphrey’s McGee. They are rock and jam legends at this point. Their lighting designer has mastered a look that is impossible to replicate. Umphrey’s will shred you to pieces both visually and audibly. TIX HERE AFTER PARTY TIX

[Umphrey’s Mcgee at Electric Forest 2014]

Incubus & Deftones Perfect Vodka Ampitheater – West Palm Beach – August 14th Incubus is a band we have admired for a long time. If you are unfamiliar with the band for some reason just go listen to the album “Make Yourself”. We have a few songs we are hoping to hear such as “Nice to Know You,” “Pardon Me,” and “The Warmth.” Incubus and Deftones are some of the staples in our musical influences. A chance to see them both together is not something you will likely see again. TIX HERE
