Unfortunately, just about every month I see a story about someone dying as a result of taking molly. It is important to note that these cases are usually labelled as “overdoses,” which would indicate that the individual is taking an absurd amount of MDMA. This isn’t usually the case, as the deaths usually result from complications after taking a normal amount. The latest incident to make headlines was the two people who died at the Maryland installment of the Mad Decent Block
Disclosure came through Florida this past weekend, and we were lucky enough to hit up the Orlando date. The place was slam-packed, sold out at 2500 tickets for the Orlando debut of electronic music’s rising stars. The night got started with sets by Samo Sound Boy, who spun UK bass and garage to an anxious, but open-minded, audience. When the brothers came out, all hell broke loose. I saw the “indie” crowd too cool to move at a Portugal. The Man show in this very building, but
Counterpoint Music Festival has taken to Facebook to announce their break from 2013. The Atlanta-based festival will be back in 2013 from April 25-27 in Kingston Downs, GA (about 15 minutes north of Atlanta). It’s official: Counterpoint 2014 is goin’ down! The announcement comes just before the kick off of TomorrowWorld, which has used the exact location and weekend that Counterpoint used last year. Counterpoint 2012 featured Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Skrillex, Avicii, Steve
Good news for “freaks” everywhere, Kaskade’s new album Atmosphere officially dropped today, and to no surprise it’s already reached #6 on iTunes’ Top Albums. Like his former album Fire & Ice, Ryan Raddon, better known as Kaskade, succeeded in creating an eclectic arrangement of tracks that follow no specific genre guidelines. From big room progressive house, to deep house, to minimal instrumental, Kaskade proves that he really can do it all. “Why Ask Why” features the members
As expected, the social media world has erupted with thousands of tweets, messages, arguments, condolences and then some. deadmau5 has released 8 tracks in the last week. Not bad for an artist who hates on the whole EDM thing all the time. (But who could blame him?) Some of these aren’t finished, and I’m not exactly sure where they will end up. However, the melodies and quality of sounds he’s given us here are top-notch, and I’d expect nothing less from the dude who made “Strobe” or “Faxing Berlin.” Peep ’em below and share with your friends!
Contributions by Julian Colucci First of all, if you’re getting all heated and saying I should wait until the album comes out and respect Daft Punk, please go fuck yourself. Because 1) they leaked the thing via iTunes stream and 2) I run a blog and don’t give a shit even if #1 didn’t exist. With that said, let’s dive in to this beast: the most mind-boggling mix of organic / robotic music… 1. The first track title “Give Life Back To Music” is the album’s mission statement. 2.
Well hot diggity-damn. The largest EDM festival on this side of the Mississippi has just unleashed its second phase, sort of by surprise might I add. The drop features a lot of familiar names along with some interesting choices such as Snoop Dogg, The Weeknd and Sleigh Bells. The TRAPPED party is going to be off the damn hook, just look at that lineup. There are so many unbelievable lineups on each stage, but the Live Stage lineups are the most impressive. I absolutely love h
With an already stellar lineup, Buku Music + Arts Project just unleashed the final lineup. In addition to big names such as Kid Cudi, Calvin Harris, Major Lazer, Nero and STS9, the good folks at Winter Circle Productions have added Public Enemy, Sander van Doorn, Flying Lotus, Japandroids, Birdy Nam Nam, Trinidad James, Icona Pop, Action Bronson, Dragonette, Daedelus, Ryan Hemsworth, Lazy Rich, and more! Watch the lineup announcement video below! If you have yet to acquire yo
Flux Pavilion’s Blow The Roof EP is slated for a January 28th release on Circus/Big Beat Records. The mau5 will headline both Saturdays of this year’s Ultra Music Festival. After all the controversy last year, the two parties have apparently put their differences aside and reached an agreement. #bassnectar #prettylights #avicii #Florida #datsik #ultramusicfestival #umf #wmc #ultra #Miami #mau5trap #ultramusic #deadmau5 #wintermusicconference
New Year’s Eve. It’s a glorious holiday complete with champagne and kissing, topped by the only countdown you’ve paid attention to since you watched TRL. DubEra.com will be attending both BassLights and Bassnectar’s 360 Extravaganza. Unfortunately, scientists haven’t yet figured out how we can be in two places at one time, but if they had, here’s where my particles would split: Lights All Night @ Fair Park (Dallas, TX) Tickets: http://lightsallnight.ticketfly.com/ String Chee
While everybody tweeted, made flyers, and blogged about fake line-ups, Pasquale Rotella and co. at Insomniac Events were busy putting the final touches on an insane line-up for this second year festival. Bassheads will find solace in the almighty Bassnectar, Borgore, Crizzly and Figure while trance addicts will drool over Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Morgan Page and Markus Schulz. House heavy-hitters like Afrojack, R3hab and Sidney Samson will satisfy the rest of 50,000 expected
They went HARD. Particularly I can get real hyped on Diplo, Nero, Minnesota, Crizzly, Bassnectar and many more. The line up is totally solid and after moving to from a 2 to a 3-day event, they didn’t ease up at all. We covered the event last year, check out our recap video! #lights #bassnectar #prettylights #crizzly #avicii #edm #fluxpavilion #nervo #lightsallnight #tiesto #feedme #dance #axwell #madeon #breakscience #zedsdead
Camp Bisco has taken to Facebook to release their Day-By-Day schedule. While it might be comparable to a mother picking her favorite child, I think I’m most excited for Friday. Big Boi, Amon Tobin, Dr. Fameus, Mim0sa, Shpongle and of course the DISCO BISCUITS. It’s going to be a heater all three days straight and we couldn’t be happier to get in on the action. If you can’t afford to hit all three days up, Bisco has released a limited amount of Saturday only passes. You can he
This past weekend, thousands of people flocked to Raymond James Stadium but this time for a reason other than football and monster trucks. The Sunset Music Festival line up was released months ago and with the help of promoters and local talent across the state it became electronic music’s #1 destination for Memorial Day weekend. With three stages, beautiful Floridians, great weather and killer after parties, this past Saturday was a perfect as our beaches and winter weather.
Personally, I think Tommy Trash is cool because he’s so different from every other progressive house / electro producer / DJ. Not in style of music, necesarily. His tracks fit right in with the other similar DJs who are conquering that type of dancefloor. But his monthly mixes, Australian heritage and personality are different than most other DJs around. I mean, just look at that press shot above. You don’t see Alesso or Hardwell in a two week beard and earth tone tee holding
src:http://www.counterpointfestival.com/images/lineup-poster-large.jpg AND THEY WENT HAM! When this music festival was announced for its inaugural edition, I didn’t know what to expect. On one hand, it was a brand new festival in Atlanta, Georgia with no real hints as to where the line up was going to be musically. On the other hand, it is put on by the same organizers as Lollapalooza, Camp Bisco, etc. By golly, they did not disappoint… in face, they superseded. The line up f
